Kirsten Edwards-Warren Wins Global Competition Review’s Economist of the Year 2024 Award

On 9 April, 2024, Global Competition Review (“GCR”) awarded Kirsten Edwards-Warren, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Compass Lexecon’s EMEA Practice, Economist of the Year for 2024.
According to GCR, the ‘Economist of the Year’ award recognizes “a competition economist whose superior technical skill, practical judgement and excellence in client service in 2023 demonstrate that he or she is among the very best in the field.”
Kirsten has worked as a professional economist for over 20 years, both in consulting and at the UK competition agencies. She has significant experience in merger investigations, as well as cartel and antitrust cases in various jurisdictions. In 2023, she led the team that provided economic analysis and logistical support throughout the merger proceedings for the $69 billion VMware/Broadcom tech transaction in front of the European Commission and UK Competition and Markets Authority. She headed the teams that provided economic support in the EC merger review of the acquisition by AC Nielsen of German market research firm GfK, and the EC and CMA merger reviews of the £6.3 billion acquisition of Meggitt by Parker Hannifin. Other recent mergers that Kirsten advised upon are Saint Gobain/GCP, Culligan/Waterlogic, Aon/Willis Towers Watson and IBM/Red Hat.
Kirsten is the sixth Compass Lexecon expert to receive the award, preceded by Mark Israel (2023), Neil Dryden (2016), Dennis Carlton (2014), Jorge Padilla (2012), and Janusz Ordover (2011).
