Advised Asda Stores Ltd on Cleared Acquisition of Co-operative Group Stores

In November 2014, the UK Competition & Markets Authority ("CMA") cleared the acquisition by Asda Stores Ltd. of a package of grocery stores from the Co-operative Group.
Compass Lexecon provided economic analysis and advice in connection with the CMA investigation. Our analysis included an assessment of unilateral effects, including diversion ratios, IPRs and GUPPIs. These were informed by consumer surveys that we undertook as part of the transaction.
