We are thrilled to announce that Senior Consultant, Professor Anindya Ghose, has co-authored a book entitled THRIVE: Maximizing Well-Being in the Age of AI (Thrive) published by MIT Press. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the modern economy, misperceptions about it can stand in the way of effectively harnessing it for the betterment of society. In Thrive, Professor Ghose and co-author Ravi Bapna use real-life examples to counter AI backlash and demonstrate how it can positively impact our daily lives.

Thrive demystifies the underlying technology of AI and explains how various types of AI work. In doing so, the authors provide people with the context needed to shape the ongoing debate about how AI should be regulated to maximize its benefits and minimize its risks. Thrive aims to highlight how the modern AI-powered ecosystem fundamentally improves the emotional, physical, and material well-being of everyday people across the globe.

The book has received rave reviews from leading academic scholars and industry experts and achieved Amazon best-seller status in the AI & Semantics, Social Aspects of Technology, and General Technology categories. It was released on October 8, 2024.

Professor Ghose is the Heinz Riehl Chair Professor of Business at NYU Stern School of Business and an expert in quantitative marketing, AI, and tech economics. He is a pioneer in work involving economic issues and consumer behavior related to digital platforms, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, digital marketing, data privacy and social media using toolkits from economics and data science.

Professor Ghose is also an accomplished expert witness and has provided expert testimony in several matters that involve tech companies including Meta, Alibaba, Apple, Google, Snapchat, Verizon, and Yahoo, among others.

Professor Ghose commented, “I am thrilled to see decades of research and consulting work culminate in the release of Thrive. We wrote the book to challenge the negativity bias in the media surrounding AI and how the cognitive revolution it is powering is positively impacting our lives. Thank you to my colleagues at Compass Lexecon for their support of this book.”

Daniel R. Fischel, Chairman of Compass Lexecon added, “We are delighted for Professor Ghose and the release of Thrive. He continues to add immense value to our firm with his expertise in AI and the digital economy.”
