Compass Lexecon is delighted to welcome Roman Fischer and former colleague Zita Vasas as Vice Presidents based in Brussels and France respectively.

Zita Vasas has more than 10 years of experience as a competition economist, including at Hungary’s Competition Authority, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and in her previous role at Compass Lexecon between 2010 and 2014.

Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, she completed her competition-related PhD earlier this year at the University of East Anglia. This followed close to five years at the FCA leading various workstreams on market studies on competition among credit cards and investment platforms.

From 2007 to 2009, Zita assisted case handlers at the Hungarian enforcer as a member of its office of competition policy.

Zita commented: “I left Compass Lexecon eight years ago to diversify my career and focus on studying, but I always knew I would be back at some point. I have recently completed my PhD and so the time has come to re-join. I am already enjoying working with a great project team and looking forward to the exciting cases ahead.”

Roman Fischer has more than ten years of consulting experience in competition cases both before the European Commission and national competition authorities in Europe and worldwide.

He is particularly experienced in merger control, having advised on several high-profile in-depth reviews such as AerCap/GECAS, Novelis/Aleris and Linde/Praxair in his previous consultancy role.

He has also advised both plaintiffs and claimants in cartel litigation cases during settlement negotiations, in German and UK courts as well as before arbitration tribunals.

Roman commented: “Compass Lexecon stands out for its empowering and collaborative culture, which I see as a real competitive advantage. It’s also exciting to join such an outstanding bench of economists.”

Kirsten Edwards-Warren, Deputy Head of Compass Lexecon in EMEA commented, “We warmly welcome Roman and Zita’s return to the European team. Roman’s extensive expertise in merger and cartel litigation cases and Zita’s varied regulatory, academic and advisory background will help to support Compass Lexecon’s clients with rigorous economic analysis and sound advice.
