Internationally Renowned Economist John List Affiliates With Compass Lexecon

We are delighted to announce that John A. List has affiliated with Compass Lexecon. He is the Kenneth C. Griffin Distinguished Service Professor in Economics at the University of Chicago, and the Founder and Co-Director of the TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health.

Professor List is best known for being a pioneer of field experiments in economics. He is also a recognized expert in industrial organizations, labor economics, and non-profit entities, among other areas. He has published nearly 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and several books, including best-sellers, The Why Axis: Hidden Motives and the Undiscovered Economics of Everyday Life (with Uri Gneezy), as well as The Voltage Effect: How to Make Good Ideas Great and Great Ideas Scale.

Professor List is also an experienced expert witness and has provided expert testimony in the US, Australia, and Switzerland.

He holds five honorary doctorates, is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Econometric Society, and was named a top 50 Innovator in the Non-Profit Times in 2015 and 2016 for his work on charitable giving. Professor List served in the White House on the Council of Economic Advisers from 2002-2003 and is presently a Research Associate at the NBER, a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor, and a University Fellow at Resources for the Future.

Professor List received his B.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wyoming. Professor List joined the UChicago faculty in 2005 and served as Chairman of the Department of Economics from 2012-2018.
