Leading Academic James Dow Joins Compass Lexecon as Senior Consultant

Compass Lexecon is delighted to welcome leading academic James Dow as a Senior Consultant in our London office. Dr. Dow brings more than 20 years’ experience as a quantum expert to the firm’s European Corporate Finance and International Arbitration practices. His deep of knowledge of academic research and experience working with arbitrators on research processes and detailed analytics will add value to the firm’s roster of clients across key industries.
Dr. Dow is a Professor of Finance at London Business School who has published research on a variety of topics on financial markets and corporate finance, including the effects of limited arbitrage capital, leverage on market liquidity and dynamics, management incentives and shareholder value.
Dr. Dow has consulted with large energy companies and a wide range or other businesses on valuation, the cost of capital, corporate governance, corporate finance and expert testimony. In addition, he has acted as quantum expert on a variety of topics in a number of high-profile cases, including arbitrations brought by foreign investors and companies against States.
Dr. Dow previously held positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the European University Institute in Florence. His research is published in a number of journals, including The Journal of Political Economy, The American Economic Review, The Review of Economic Studies, Econometrica, The Journal of Finance, and The Review of Financial Studies.
Dr. Dow earned a PhD in Economics from Princeton University and a BA in Economics from Cambridge University.
