Leading Academic Peter Ormosi Joins Compass Lexecon as Vice President

Compass Lexecon is delighted to welcome leading academic Peter Ormosi as a Vice President in our London office. He will provide expert advice across a range of consulting projects in addition to supporting the Research Team to bolster the firm’s leading-edge approach to economic analysis. 

Peter is a Professor of Competition Economics at the University of East Anglia whose work has been published in both economics and law journals of international excellence. His recent research has been focused on the market impact of autonomous recommendation systems on online platforms, the economics of music streaming and the evaluation of the distributional impact of competition policy. Peter has also completed extensive research on deterrence, litigation strategies in mergers and the ex-post evaluation of the impact of competition policy. His work regularly explores novel methodological tools including the use of machine learning methods.

Peter’s experience spans beyond his current academic achievements to include policy analysis roles at the European Commission, Hungarian Competition Authority, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the World Bank. He was the lead author for a European Commission report on the innovation impact of mergers and has delivered workshops for European Commission Judges on the quantification of harm. Before joining Compass Lexecon, he had been a member of the Competition and Markets Authority’s Academic Panel since 2016 and regularly contributed to its annual impact assessment report.

Peter earned PhDs in Economics and Law from the University of East Anglia, an MSc in Industrial Economics from the University of East Anglia, a JD in Law from Eötvös Loránd University and a BA in Economic Sciences from the Corvinus University of Budapest.
