Lexecon's Harvard Square Economists Appointed To Several Commissions

Jonathan Taylor, Senior Consultant, has been appointed by Acting Governor Jane M. Swift to the Commission to Study the Potential Expansion of Legalized Gaming in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as "a nationally recognized expert on Indian gaming." The Commission has been convened to "comprehensively research, identify, and study the potential effects, positive and negative, of legalized gaming expansion on the economic, social, cultural, and fiscal well-being of the Commonwealth." Susan F. Tierney, Senior Vice President, and Philip Sharp, Senior Advisor, have been appointed to the new 18-member National Commission on Energy Policy. Funded by a group of prominent philanthropic foundations, the bipartisan Commission has been set up to chart a long-range energy policy for the United States. The panel expects to present its findings in two years. Joseph Cavicchi, Senior Consultant, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association. NECA is New England's oldest and most broadly-based non-profit trade association and serves as a forum for the competitive electric power industry.
