Alessandro Castellani is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Milan.
Alessandro has advised clients on several global, European, and Italian merger investigations, as well as on follow-on damage cases, and cases involving allegations of anticompetitive practices under EU and Italian competition law. His experience spans various sectors, including agriculture, automotive, chemicals, financial and payment services, industrial packaging, healthcare, and telecoms.
Alessandro’s merger experience includes several high-profile global and European cases such as Broadcom/VMWare, Nexi/SIA, Nexi/Nets, and Praxair/Linde. In the Italian market, his most recent cases include ENEL-Intesa Sanpaolo/Mooney, and Nexi/Intesa Sanpaolo Acquiring.
Related to anticompetitive practices, Alessandro's experience covers information sharing cases (car financing) and abuse of dominant position cases in sectors such as telecommunications, online market platforms, and healthcare devices. He has also been advising clients in the context of follow-on damage claims in the trucks and the cardboard markets.
Before joining Compass Lexecon, Alessandro worked at an economic consulting firm in Brussels and interned at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP). He holds a BSc and an MSc in Economics (with distinction) from Bocconi University, where he specialized in industrial organization, competition policy, and microeconomic theory.
