Gabriel Fernández

Gabriel Fernández is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Santiago. He specializes in applying economic analysis to competition and antitrust matters across various jurisdictions.
Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Gabriel worked for 11 years in the Chilean Competition Authority (Fiscalía Nacional Económica). During the first four years, he provided economic analysis in abuse of dominance and collusion matters. He then joined the Merger Division, assisting in merger investigations, including many in-depth Phase II investigations, in a variety of industries including supermarkets, fast-moving consumer goods, energy, health, pharmaceuticals, fisheries, and digital markets, among others.
Gabriel holds an MA in Economics from Georgetown University in a double degree with Alberto Hurtado University and studied Business and Administration with Economics at the University Alberto Hurtado of Chile. He also holds a Diploma in the Electric Power Industry from the University of Chile. He has taught economics and microeconomics as a university professor.
