Ivana Kocanova

Ivana is a Senior Data Scientist at Compass Lexecon, based in London.

Ivana’s focus is on the application of advanced analytics tools to competition cases, including the use and development of big data analytics and machine learning methods. Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, she worked as a data scientist in both academia and industry.

She has experience across a range of matters including merger control, abuse of dominance, cartels, and anti-competitive agreements. She has advised clients from various industries including chemicals, digital platforms, technology, financial services, and retail.

Ivana has worked on cases across multiple jurisdictions and regulators like EC, CMA and FTC. Examples of her work include the simulation of merger impact on market pricing and customer welfare for a high-profile merger between Refinitiv and the London Stock Exchange. She has also conducted a data science secondment at Meta where she supported multiple ongoing acquisitions and investigations including Meta’s mergers of Kustomer, Giphy or Oculus.

Ivana holds an MSc in Business Analytics from the University of Nottingham, and a BSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Essex.
