Joonas Roos is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Helsinki.

Joonas specialises in applying economic analysis and empirical techniques to competition policy cases. His experience spans assessing competitive effects in mergers, valuing intellectual property, and conducting economic analyses in Article 101 and Article 102 TFEU proceedings, including related litigation and arbitration proceedings.

He has worked on cases before the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and various national competition authorities worldwide.

Recently, Joonas has provided economic advice to parties in merger proceedings of IBM/HashiCorp (infrastructure automation) before the competition authorities in the UK, US and Australia; Caverion/TM Voima (substation and transmission lines) before the Finnish Consumer and Competition Authority; and Bouygues/Equans (engineering services) before the UK CMA. In behavioural matters, Joonas advised an ethylene purchaser in the European Commission’s information exchange investigation. He was also involved on several IP matters to determine royalties and FRAND rates for standard essential patents.

Joonas holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Aalto University.
