Joshua Phoon

Joshua Phoon is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Singapore.
Joshua’s work focuses on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy cases. He was previously based in Compass Lexecon’s London office before joining the Singapore team in 2022.
Joshua has advised on cases before the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority and national courts around the world. He has worked on merger control, damages litigation and commercial disputes, across a range of industries including digital platforms, entertainment and media, manufacturing, mining and transportation.
Joshua’s experience includes the Yokohama Rubber Company / Trelleborg Wheel Systems (off highway tyres) and Impala Platinum / Royal Bafokeng Platinum (platinum group metals) mergers. He has also advised on disputes in the digital platforms and entertainment and media industries. Finally, he is part of the team providing economic advice on damages estimation for a heavy truck manufacturer in the context of litigation proceedings.
Joshua holds a MPhil in Economic Research and a BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
