Lau Nilausen is a Senior Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in London.

Lau specialises in the application of economic and finance theory to competition investigations, litigation, merger control, and regulatory matters. He has over 20 years of experience as a regulator, management consultant, and economic and financial consultant.

His expertise includes abuse of dominance investigations (with a particular focus on predatory pricing, margin squeeze, excessive pricing, rebates, and price discrimination), competition litigation, commercial litigation, merger control (with a particular focus on the assessment of merger rationale and efficiencies), and regulatory pricing remedies. Lau’s experience encompasses a broad range of sectors, with extensive experience within telecoms, media, and technology.

Lau has produced independent expert reports for submission to courts and competition and regulatory bodies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and has given oral evidence at European Commission hearings and before the Court of Appeal of Eastern Denmark.

Lau holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in economics from the University of Copenhagen, an MBA from SDA Bocconi, and is CFA Charterholder. He has published in journals such as the Competition Law Journal and Competition Law & Policy Debate, receiving a nomination in the 2024 Concurrences Antitrust Writing Awards.
