M. Laurentius Marais

Laurentius Marais is an Executive Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in Chicago and Washington, DC. He holds graduate degrees in mathematics, statistics and business administration from Stanford University. At the Stanford Graduate School of Business he received a PhD degree for a dissertation on applications of computer-intensive statistical methods to quantitative analyses of topics in business. He has served on the faculties of the University of Chicago and Stanford University.

Both as an academic and as a consultant, Dr. Marais has extensive experience in applying statistical and mathematical methods to the analysis of real-world issues and to the critical assessment of statistical studies and conclusions. During his more than 32 years of consulting experience, including 28 years at William E. Wecker Associates, he has developed and applied these skills in a broad variety of complex operational, litigation, and regulatory settings, often involving the critical assessment of multiple expert submissions from a range of areas of expertise having significant statistical and mathematical content.
