Nicholas Jiayuan Liu is an Economist at Compass Lexecon based in Beijing. He applies economics theory and econometric methods to analyze complex economic issues in antitrust and intellectual property matters.
His work primarily involves economic analyses in antitrust litigations, intellectual property disputes, damage calculations, FRAND licensing issues, and the M&A review process. His experience spans various industries, including high-tech, digital platforms, clean energy, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and industrial products.
Mr. Liu has specialized experience in China-related matters. He has supported testifying experts on economic report submission and court testification in numerous antitrust litigations before Chinese courts. He has advised on several merger approval cases before the SAMR and provided consulting services in several antitrust investigations led by Chinese competition authorities. Mr. Liu was also involved in a policy consulting project for the SAMR.
Mr. Liu holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics (with honors) from Wake Forest University.
