Dr. Peter Bönisch is a Vice President at Compass Lexecon, based in Berlin.
Peter has more than 10 years of academic and consulting experience working on empirical economics and econometrics issues. He has advised clients from a wide range of industries, in all fields of competition policy and across a number of jurisdictions including Germany, the UK, and the European Union.
Peter specializes in the quantification of damages in the context of follow-on cartel damages litigation. He has advised clients and drafted expert witness reports for recent EU and German cartel cases in various industries including air cargo, rail tracks, sleepers and switches, liner shipping, coffee, sugar, sweets, plastic bags, drugstore articles, cathode ray tubes, steel parts and trucks. He also advised clients in merger cases in varying roles and industries such as printing paints, lubricants and gas turbines.
Prior to joining Compass Lexecon Peter worked in the Economist team at Zalando SE, the largest online fashion retailer in Europe, and gained firsthand experience in all kinds of data science and big data topics, platform economics and A/B testing. He has also worked at a large economic consultancy firm in Berlin, Germany.
Peter holds a Doctorate from Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, where he specialized in applied econometrics and empirical economics. He also holds a diploma degree in Economics (equivalent to M.Sc.) and a diploma degree in Political Science (equivalent to M.A.) from Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. He is a native German speaker and fluent in English.
His research has been published among others in the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice and in the Zeitschrift für Wettbewerbsrecht.
