Yoad Shefi

Yoad Shefi is an Executive Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in Chicago. He specializes in industrial organization, antitrust and applied econometrics. His areas of expertise include econometric analysis, modeling and simulations in merger and antitrust cases. He has extensive experience in applying complex econometric and statistical models to large data sets. His experience spans a variety of industries, including airlines, tobacco, media, health insurance, office supplies, mortgage backed securities and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Dr. Shefi was an Associate Director at Navigant Economics. Additionally, he spent several years working in the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s budget department as a financial advisor to the Israeli Defense Forces Chief of Staff, where he served as the head of the defense industry and R&D budgets unit and as the head of the IT and knowledge management unit. He received a PhD in Business Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and also holds an MBA from Chicago Booth, an MS in Decisions and Operations Research from Tel-Aviv University and a BA in Economics and Accounting from Bar-Ilan University.
Dr. Shefi is also an Adjunct Professor of Economics and Strategy at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he teaches Microeconomics and Competitive Strategy. His research focuses on the economics of defense markets and terrorism and he has published several papers on the optimal structure of defense industries.
